Baptism
A baptismal preparation class is required for all parents who wish to have a child baptized in the Parish. It is expected that at least one parent is an actively practicing Catholic. Registration for the class is by phone call to the Parish Office. The class prepares the family for a fuller and more joyful celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism.
Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation
There is a two year preparation period required for these sacraments. If you would like to plan to have your child receive sacraments in the 2nd grade, they must have participated in a 1st grade PSR or Catholic school program. If you plan to have your child receive the sacrament of Confirmation in the 8th grade, that child must also have participated in a 7th grade PSR or Catholic school program. Please contact Mary Smith at 795-3821 ext. 24 with any questions.
Marriage
The couple must contact the priest at least six months in advance of the planned wedding date so that there is adequate time to complete the necessary documentation, interviews with the priest and participation in an Engagement Encounter weekend or Pre-Cana program. The Parish Director of Music Ministries assists the couple with the wedding and preparation for the wedding ceremony. The Parish has its own Wedding Director for all weddings at Nativity.
RCIA
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process by which people become members of the Catholic Church. The process is concerned with the total formation of the person: believing with the church community; praying with the church community; and serving with the church community. This gradual development culminates in the celebration of the initiation sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.
